Industrial Process Installations
Industrial process installations: process piping per PFD-P&ID, equipment mounting, tank-reactor links, CIP-steam lines and commissioning.
Industrial process installations are the engineering works that carry a production line's flow scheme (PFD) and piping-instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) to the field: connecting equipment such as reactors, boilers, dryers, tanks and separators to each other and to utilities through process piping, valves, insulation and instrumentation. Unlike comfort services, the process itself is the criticality: a wrong bypass direction, a faulty blend line or an insufficient expansion allowance produces outcomes from product loss to downtime, energy waste to safety risk. Our contracting includes process design-reading, material-surface conformity, production-test and commissioning chains.
Design Inputs
- Flow and material: Chemistry-temperature-pressure of the process fluid; pipe material (304-316L, enamelled, lined) and gasket choice, cleaning-sterilisation (CIP-SIP) rules, dead-leg control.
- P&ID disciplines: Valve stations (manifold-bypass-isolation), bellows-flexible connections and vibration isolation (pumps-compressors), sample-point and vent-drain placement, colour-flow labelling standards (TS 1544/ISO approaches).
- Utility interface: Clean interfaces for steam-hot oil-hot water, compressed air, cooling water, nitrogen and electrical-instrumentation connection points.
- Special site equipment: Pump-compressor-centrifuge foundation settlement, tank pile-leg-contact corrosion details, platform-step-ladder access ergonomics and lifting anchors (crane planning).
Production, Welding and Inspection
Process piping is produced under welding procedure-qualification (WPS/PQR, EN ISO 9606 / ASME IX) and inspection plans (VT-NDE-RT ratios by criticality). Prefabrication-shop share raises quality and safety; site works run on mounting-tolerance and fit-up control. Polishing (Ra), oil-cleanliness rules and lid-separator gaskets on washable interior surfaces are verified by hygiene audit. Pressure tests (hydrostatic or controlled pneumatic) and leak scanning (thermal and gas detector) run before insulation closes; the pressure equipment classification is documented in line with PED 2014/68/EU and pressure vessel inspection scope.
Commissioning and Operation
Commissioning starts with dry-run false load without product: directionality-locking-automation IO tests (including MV/LV supply verification), cleaning-sterilisation and first product cycle. Capacity performance test, specific energy consumption and the verification band of process parameters are the customer acceptance protocol for toll and custom production. At handover, operator training, process fault tree and critical spare stock (seal-gasket-valve internals) are delivered, and the periodic inspection plan — tank, safety valve, pipe wall thickness tracking (UT) — ties into the reference file created here. Process installations run under Law No. 6331, safety and sector hygiene-food legislation. For P&ID reading, survey and quotation for your production line see the contact page; this service sits under our Mechanical Installation Contracting heading.
Efficiency and Lifecycle
Process piping changes across its operating life: end-of-line blanks, revision bypasses and expansion allowances (ready spool pieces) lower the cost of that change. Waste heat recovery —condensate flash steam, exhaust air scrap— and periodic trap-leak scanning are the invisible energy line of the plant. The inventory (line-chemistry-temperature class table), colour-flow-direction standard and P&ID currency (as-built preservation) are the basis of future investment and insurance audits. A properly installed process line is a living organism where seismic, automation and maintenance scenarios work together.
FAQ on Industrial Process Installations
The criticality is the process itself: reading PFD and P&ID, material-contact surface selection (316L-enamel-lined) by fluid chemistry-temperature-pressure, CIP-SIP hygiene rules and dead-leg control are design\s first lines. A wrong bypass direction or insufficient expansion allowance reaches from product loss to downtime, energy waste to safety risk. Utility interfaces (steam-oil-water, air, instrumentation) are set with clean boundary points.
On WPS/PQR (EN ISO 9606-ASME IX) with criticality-based inspection ratios (VT-NDE-RT); shop prefabrication share raises quality-safety and field works follow fit-up tolerance control. Polishing (Ra) and oil-cleanliness rules on washable interiors verify by hygiene audit. Pressure tests and leak scanning run before insulation closes; the pressure equipment classification documents in line with PED/TS EN 13445 and pressure vessel inspection scope.
Pump-compressor-centrifuge foundation seating-settlement, tank pile-leg contact corrosion details, platform-step-handrail ergonomics and lifting anchors (crane planning) decide service life. Service space-access cover-spare part path is engineering next to labelling: nobody closes a valve staff cannot reach; the colour-flow direction standard is part of this discipline.
Dry-run starts with directionality-IO-automation tests (including MV/LV supply verification); cleaning-sterilisation-first product cycle and the capacity-specific energy-parameter band test are the customer acceptance protocol. Handover delivers operator training, fault tree and critical spares (seal-gasket-valve internals); the periodic inspection plan (tank, safety valve, pipe wall UT tracking) ties into the reference file created here.
