The permitted permanent deformation of an upright or beam depends on section and steel thickness and is fixed by measurement (tape-caliper-laser). A red-tagged rack is not loaded before an engineer-verified change.
Inspection and Layout Discipline
- Plumb tolerance: upright deviation above the permitted band breaks the load distribution.
- Anchor-nut: loose anchor or floor crack is the first failure point under impact.
- Load plate (SWL): readable on every frame; deck-break-up load conformity is audited. A missing plate means the operator cannot know the safe limit.

What Happens When Capacity Grows?
Changed load, level height or product weight affects the existing rack calculation life.
