OHS Compliance Documents: TS EN Standards and Periodic Inspection
Inspection technique comes from standards: TS EN 13001 for cranes, TS EN 15635 for racks, TS EN 62305 for lightning, TS EN 54 for fire. This article explains the standard-document-inspection triangle, the role of the CE file and the record set presented in audits.
OHS compliance documents are not a pile of bureaucracy; they are the identity of the equipment, the record of its design boundary and the definition of the inspection method. How periodic inspection is done and which limit applies is largely set by TS EN standards: TS EN 13001 for cranes, TS EN 15635 and 15512 for racks, TS EN 13241 for doors, TS EN 62305 for lightning protection, TS EN 54 for fire detection, the TS EN 60076 series for transformers. The inspection report is the field counterpart of these standards.
The Standard-Inspection-Document Triangle
- Design conformity: CE marking and the declaration of conformity document that the equipment meets minimum safety requirements under manufacturer responsibility.
- Operating conformity: periodic inspection catches the drift created by mounting, wear, maintenance and use errors through measurement. The narrowest of regulation, standard or manual governs the period.
- Proof chain: Ministry audits, SGK investigations, insurance expertise and courts demand three sets together — technical file, last inspection report and maintenance records.

The Price of Uncertified Equipment
A crane or rack bay without a valid inspection report carries administrative sanction in an audit, fault presumption in an accident and compensation refusal in insurance. Conversely, a current report with measurement values strengthens the defence right and protects asset value.
