Why Electrical Panel and Installation Control Is Mandatory: Intervals and Risks

Electrical installation and panel control is the periodic audit made with insulation resistance, earth-bonding continuity, RCD trip current-time, loop impedance and live thermal scanning. The aim is to catch shock, arc and fire risks before the installation shows a fault. The panel is the heart of the facility — one loose bus joint or one dead residual current device becomes the whole building risk.

Why Mandatory, on What Interval?

Law No. 6331 and the Internal Electrical Installations Regulation require periodic control, measurement and reporting of workplace electrical installations. Earthing measurement and panel audit run in practice at most yearly (tighter in explosive-wet environments); the Earthing Regulation defines earth periods per facility type. For RCDs the monthly test-button discipline is completed by the yearly measurement. Every electrical control sits in our installation periodic inspection heading.

Which Measurements Run in the Control?

  • Insulation resistance: phase-earth and phase-phase; below-limit values mark moisture-contamination-degradation (LVD insulation test).
  • Earthing and continuity: electrode resistance, low-resistance measurement of bonding points, equipotential integrity — electrical installation earthing inspection.
  • Residual current device: trip current and time verified by injection; stage coordination checked (RCD test inspection).
  • Thermal scan: hot-spot hunt under load with closed doors — loose contact, unbalanced load, degraded bus.
  • Panel integrity: IP class, labelling-signalling, fuse-contactor-protection fit, distribution and compensation groups (distribution, MCC and compensation panels).
